This is a blog that has been created for the participants of the Asia Pacific Journalism Centre Reporting the Economic Life of Communities Fellowship. Participants will use this blog to engage with the blogosphere, write blog posts and to maintain a central connection point when they return home. The participants will be lead by online journalism researcher and trainer Renee Barnes.
Asia Pacific Journalism Centre’s Reporting the Economic Life of Communities program – 18 April – 20 May 2011
The goal of the program is to improve the ability of participating journalists to understand and report on international trade and other economic matters, and thereby contribute more effectively to economic development in their countries and region.
The program is being supported by AusAID under its Australian Leadership Awards fellowships scheme.
The program will be held mostly in Melbourne and will include modules on personal development, an introduction to Australia’s financial institutions, a master class on reporting trade and the economy, and a news media internship. There will also be professional visits to Canberra and Sydney.
The APJC is a not-for-profit organisation that runs programs for journalists in developing countries and cultural awareness programs for Australian journalists.
